Chaz Lytle, UGA All Time Stolen Base Champ on Speed and Agility Training

There are 2 ways to make money in this game or to get a scholarship. You have to drive them in or you have to score them. If you don’t have enough power to light up the city of Las Vegas, which means you haven’t hit 10 home runs a year, consider yourself a player like me. You need to work on your bunting and base running. We will have future training series on bunting, hitting for power and arm strength.

Chaz Lytle, Hack Attack Pitching Machine

The Junior Hack Attack Baseball Pitching Machine is the major-league quality training tool designed to develop serious young players. The Junior Hack Attack has a unique three-wheel design that allows you to see the ball clearly and fully all the way through the feeding motion, acceleration and release, just like a live pitcher. In developing hitters, especially at younger ages, there is nothing more important than timing and vision. With this design, the hitter sees when to stride and the angle of release, giving him an actual live-arm sense of timing and location. The Junior will develop your dedicated players into the “pros” they want to be. At a level where simplicity is imperative, with the Junior Hack Attack dials you can effortlessly throw major league fastballs, and right and left handed breaking pitches including curveballs, sliders and split fingers. #chazlytle #georgiabaseballlessons #hackattack

Chaz Lytle, ProMirror Video Analysis

Pro-Mirror provides a slow-motion frame by frame break down of each player’s swing.  The sophisticated design contains a touch screen allowing for drawings to be made around the mechanical flaws of each player’s body.  Pro-Mirror has a split screen option which will display the mechanics of each player’s swing while comparing them to those of a professional.  Each video clip will be stored and reviewed later for an updated comparison to the new and improved player.

Chaz Lytle Blog: Exit velocity of the ball while hitting off the tee

Chaz Lytle Blog: Exit velocity of the ball while hitting off the tee
This is my favorite tool to determine where a player is in relation to other players I have coached. The exit velocity of a baseball hit off a tee is something that EVERY player can do to give himself an idea of where he stands in comparison to different levels of hitters. By standing with the Stalker radar gun behind the tee, you’ll get an accurate reading of the player’s “bat speed.” To get an accurate reading, make sure you are using decent baseballs as well as a WOOD bat.
There are obviously other factors that go into making a great hitter, but bat speed is definitely the most important. You don’t always have to have “Plus” power, but you have to have at least average if you want to be a good hitter. Even the “slap” hitters, like Ichiro, have the ability to hit a baseball a very long way in batting practice.
Here are measurements for different levels of players:
• Average High School: 80 MPH+
• Good High School/Average Non-D1 College: 85 MPH+
• Minimum D1/Good Non-D1: 90 MPH+
• Average D1 starter/Fringe Pro: 95 MPH+
• Good D1/MLB Prospect: 100 MPH+
